Paddling Tours and Instructional Tours
home
1. Group size
Normally we have a group
size of max. 8 clients on the water at one time. Larger groups can be
conveniently divided into subsequent groups of 8. However, if a larger
group needs to be on the water simultaneously, eg. to fit their other
program as a group, this can be arranged by renting more kayaks or
teaming up with another guide / outfitter business.
2. Content
There are two basic alternatives for a one-night program:
- Paddling tour with minimum training – for people who just want to see what paddling is like (2 h)
- Instructional tour – for people, who want to do a tour and practice more kayaking strokes.(3 h)

Instructional tour
In addition to the above agenda for a tour, we will teach the following strokes in more detail (total about 60 min)
- Forward stroke
- Stopping
- Reverse stroke
- Sweep strokes (for turning the kayak efficiently)
- Draw stroke (for paddling sideways, e.g. when getting to a dock)
Each technique will be taught and
coached. We will use these techniques during the tour to
facilitate learning to apply the skills in real situations. This
corresponds to paddling clubs' beginner class content in paddling
strokes.
A British Canoe Union's Paddlesport Start Award can be obtained after successfully completing an instructional tour.
